About Schwab U.S. Aggregate Bond ETF Dividend

Schwab U.S. Aggregate Bond ETF dividend comes from a fund that holds U.S. dollar-denominated investment-grade bonds, including Treasuries, corporate bonds, and mortgage-backed securities, tracking the Bloomberg US Aggregate Bond Index. The fund pays $0.9573 per share annually on a monthly schedule, with the next ex-dividend date on September 1, 2026. SCHZ currently yields 4.27%, placing it in high-yield territory for a broad bond fund. That yield, paired with a beta of 0.99, makes SCHZ a fit for income-focused investors who want monthly cash flow from investment-grade fixed income.

Dividend Safety

Schwab U.S. Aggregate Bond ETF pays out dividends as a pass-through of interest income from its bond holdings, making a traditional payout ratio not applicable (fund/ETF). Schwab U.S. Aggregate Bond ETF dividend safety is directly tied to the interest income generated by its portfolio of investment-grade Treasuries, government-related bonds, corporate bonds, and asset-backed securities. The primary pressure on the payout is interest rate movement: when rates fall, reinvested bond income declines, which has historically pushed the annual distribution lower, as seen in 2020 and 2021.

Schwab U.S. Aggregate Bond ETF (SCHZ) Dividend Growth Rate, CAGR, and History

Schwab U.S. Aggregate Bond ETF dividend history shows a CAGR of 4.5% per year from 2012 to 2025. Per-share payments grew from $0.5326 in 2012 to $0.9465 in 2025 (2026 is a partial year and excluded from the growth calculation). The history also contains at least one year-over-year decline exceeding 5%, reflecting how interest rate cycles directly shape the fund's distributions rather than a company's dividend policy.

Schwab U.S. Aggregate Bond ETF Dividend Growth Rate (CAGR)

Period	CAGR	From	To
3-Year	+16.4%	$0.60 (2022)	$0.95 (2025)
5-Year	+6.8%	$0.68 (2020)	$0.95 (2025)
10-Year	+5.7%	$0.54 (2015)	$0.95 (2025)

Is Schwab U.S. Aggregate Bond ETF a Good Dividend Stock?

SCHZ fits income-focused investors who want monthly distributions from a broad, investment-grade U.S. bond portfolio. The current yield of 4.27% is classified as high (above 4%) and sits well above the fund's own 5-year average yield of 3.38%, meaning today's income level is elevated relative to recent norms. Four consecutive years of dividend increases add a degree of momentum, but the history shows distributions can and do fall when interest rates decline. The trade-off is straightforward: investors get a high current yield from a diversified fixed-income fund, but the payout is rate-sensitive, not structurally growing like a company that raises its dividend by policy.
